The Tree Family

I am delighted to share with viewers a recent gift–a garden inspired painting by Makena Grace Heinzelmann, a rising young artist from San Diego, California. She entitled the painting “The Tree Family.”

She described the painting as follows, “The tall tree is ‘Granddaddy,’ the middle tree is ‘Grammy,’ and the little tree is ‘Makena.'”

As an early impressionist, Makena Grace Heinzelmann clearly has a bright future ahead of her, perhaps a career en plein air. “The Tree Family” is her first major contribution to the world of art inspired by a garden. Her current medium is tempera, but she has done considerable work in water color and crayola. You may have guessed; she is my youngest granddaughter. She turned five years old in May.

  3. I am in tears. This is so wonderful and your description of this budding artist is worthy of print in the leading art review…whatever that may be. Trying to figure how to share this on my Facebook page but can’t find a share button. Darn.
