A ‘Marvel’-ous Three Months

Today the very last bud on the Hibiscus moscheutos ‘Midnight Marvel’ opened.

Hibiscus moscheutos ‘Midnight Marvel’

I included a post, It Started Blooming Today, back on the 27th of June to note the first flower on these two hibiscus plants. With the last bud opening today, it means that these plants have been in bloom for just over three months. The bright red flowers are the centerpiece, and the hibiscus adds purple tinged foliage to the border throughout the season. Another feature is that, when the spent blossoms drop, the calyx remains for a few days to add another eye-catching spot.

‘Midnight Marvel’ has been a grand addition to our garden.

When I planted them two years ago, I wan’t sure what I was going to get. Turns out to be a reasonably good choice. Thanks. Marian.
