The frost we experienced the past few nights has seriously reduced my options to participate in In a Vase on Monday. The rose and azalea blossoms are now mush; the few remaining flowers on the garden phlox have faded into pale reminders of their former selves. Any remaining life in the summer annuals is gone. What is left are the annual pansies we just planted and a camellia. The frost wasn’t quite severe enough to damage the ‘Our Linda’ Camellia sasanqua blooms which have already appeared in previous offerings.
I am grateful to my Arranger who made the best of my meager gleanings in her Ikebana vase. The pink is, no surprise, ‘Our Linda’ in a repeat performance, supported by the green buds of Pieris japonica ‘Red Mill.’ The deep purple pansies, lovely in themselves, are added as complements. The gold lacquer tray has become a staple in our offerings, and the white stones are included to enhance the oriental spirit of the arrangement.
Please visit In a Vase on Monday to see the delightful postings of Cathy, the originator of this meme, at Rambling in the Garden.
Beautiful arrangement. The color combination is striking. Your camellia must be well-protected. Most of my blooms were severely damaged this weekend.

Thanks, Susie. As to protection, it is essentially without protection, and it may be that ‘Our Linda’ is a bit tougher than some.

Your camelia looks so much like a rose. As for pansies, I always find them irresistable.

Thanks, Jason. Camellias are going to be my mainstay for the next few months, and the pansies and violas are handling the freezing weather just fine.
