In a Vase on Monday: Missing in Action

Dear friends of Cathy’s meme In a Vase on Monday, I beg your forgiveness for failing to offer an arrangement this week. My Arranger and I were away for several days in Greenville, SC, to help our daughter with her holiday decorations in her new home. We came home on a Sunday full of rain.

My Arranger, of course, was at her best in creating a festive environment. Here are just a few of her creations:

We had a delightful visit to Greenville, my first time in that beautiful city. The center of the city has been saved from the blight that many city centers have experienced and rebuilt in a very people friendly area with hundreds of lively hotels, condos, shops and restaurants. We had a marvelous !!!!!! lunch.

The heart of the city is the bridge over the falls and its surrounding park:

In the park area below the falls there was a remarkable display of colorful umbrellas. I am not sure what was their purpose, but I think it had something to do with some sort of disease awareness.

Please accept the park as my vase and the umbrellas as my flowers this week.

I hope Cathy will forgive me passing on her invitation to display items from my own garden. Between the freezing temperatures of the past week and the all day rain on Sunday, there were just no flowers in my garden to plop into a vase this Monday. Please visit In a Vase on Monday to see the Cathy’s delightful postings at Rambling in the Garden.

  1. Not sure what to make of the umbrellas, but how wonderful to have a waterfall park in the center of town.

  2. You’ll have to let me know you are coming again if you have time. I live on the Reedy just a few miles from the park.

I think your arrangers Christmas arrangements would probably count if some of the material came from the garden. The park looks a great place to spend time.

We could say that the umbrellas looked like a display of colourful blooms, John…! 😉 But as Christina says, the Christmas/Thanksgiving arrangements may indeed be ‘valid’ Vase on Monday material – I like the use of the mirror in the last one. Thanks for still thinking of posting – it really does become habit, doesn’t it?
