New Year’s Day suggests the annual exercise in looking ahead, and not many anticipate the future more than we gardeners (except perhaps expectant parents and fans of losing teams). “Next year” came in this morning!
I am looking forward to the return of warmer weather, the greening of the garden, that new plant I have yet to “discover,” the first ipheion flowers, and making new friends in the blogosphere.
New Year’s Day is also the traditional time when we make resolutions to accomplish wonderful things in the next twelve months. I do hope readers will offer up prayers and encouragement to keep me on course. With that necessary support in mind, I submit my resolutions for 2015:
1. Fill a vase on Monday for 52 weeks. Thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for the invitation to share something from our gardens in an arrangement each week.
2. Follow a tree in my garden through the year. Thanks to Lucy at Loose and Leafy for the suggestion to select a tree and report in word and picture on its progress monthly from March to December.
3. Plant at least one more Itoh peony. Is there a lavender one out there just waiting for me?
4. Trade out work-intensive plants for ones kinder to my lower back.
5. Spend a day with old friends I haven’t seen in too many years.
6. Visit five great gardens.
7. Seek and discover new (to me) garden blogs. There are so many great garden writers out there from whom I want to learn. I want to see gardens across the world, to enjoy what others are doing, and be loyal to the blogs I follow.
8. Stay wordless on Wordless Wednesday.
9. Finish the novel.
10. Honor and celebrate the contributions to my life by my Arranger.
I will not divulge which ones of these are repeats from previous years.

What a great list. I could follow your example but I’m not terribly good at resolutions! Have a great year, whether you keep them or not. The main thing is that you enjoy life and your garden to the full! 🙂 (A lavender peony sounds lovely….)

A recent newcomer to the blogosphere (and gardening), I have gained much insight into this wonderful part-time and have enjoyed learning and virtually visiting beautiful gardens. Thanks for sharing and here’s to a bountiful New Year.
