Helen, at The Patient Gardener’s Weblog, inspired me by her latest post to accept the WordPress Weekly Challenge which for this week is Shadowed.
I took this photgraph in the Moss Garden, Kokedera, in Kyoto, Japan, in the spring of 1975. When the leaves are off the trees, this kind of shadowed pattern can be found throughout the garden. Kokedera is an overwhelmingly beautiful place.

John Viccellio retired after 24 years in the U. S. Navy and began to dig into gardening when he could finally land in one place. He completed the Master Gardener course in 1992 and has since designed and constructed two of his own gardens. He wrote a monthly garden column for ten years and was a regular contributor to Carolina Gardener magazine. John published his first book, Guess What's in My Garden!, in 2014.
He lives in a retirement community in Matthews, NC.

Hi John, another garden I had not known about, I would be interested and I am sure others would too in any details you could blog about on some of the far flung and closer to home gardens you have visited.

Thank you for the idea, Julie. The main problem is that I don’t have pictures to go along with a writeup. For many years I was taking slides, and they went out with high button shoes. The digital world is so kind to photographers…take a bunch of shots, pick out the best one, and get rid of the rest. No sending off to be developed, no waiting, no fuss. I’ll have to see what I might be able to scan.

I understand that, my first job was as an assistant photographer and I used to run along several streets in London to get one image developed at the nearest printers! I hope you do put something together.
