Once again it’s time to select flowers from my garden to display In a Vase on Monday, hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden. As I have noted all too frequently recently, the pickings in my garden are slim. Simplicity will be the theme for the day. Nevertheless, several pansies have recovered from the recent cold, and my Arranger paired them in a simple arrangement with parsley foliage and a few sprigs of Carex oshimensis ‘Evergold’ in a small cobalt blue bowl.
Please visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and others are including in their vases this week.
Sweet, a lovely Monday AM presentation.

Thank you, Stepheny. It is a challenge right now to find enough in the garden to meet my commitment to this meme. It’s fun, though, and I have a great helper.

Thanks, Cathy. The pansies were about the only hint of spring I could find that had any flower color.

I love big floppy pansies. Are they perennial where you are?

I think the right answer is yes, Jason. All my pansies (and violas) live outdoors in pots. The blossoms may be damaged by frost but we have never lost the plants. We have experienced a few nights of single digit temps this year, and the pansies are fine…seem to be full of new buds.

Well that is original, I never thought of using parsley as a foliage plant in an arrangement. And why not? It It is so lovely and fresh and green. The pansies are so pretty.

Thanks, Chloris. It is a real challenge to find things for the vase right now, and the use of parsley came at the right time.

Sorry John – I seem to have overlooked your vase. My apologies! Like everyone else I feel the inclusion of parsley is inspirational. Thanks for always joining in, despite the ‘slimness’ of your pickings, although in a way don’t you think that focuses the mind when there isn’t as much to choose from?
