Not much is blooming right now in my garden here on the last day of February. I decided to present a very limited view of what is about to come forth rather than a review of things that are yet to bud out. Many plants are poking their little heads up and teasing me, even after an unseasonably cold winter in my garden. I am happy to share this abbreviated look at what’s happening when I take a Walk in the Garden.
Dayliliy ‘Queen Charlotte,’ and (from top to bottom) English bluebells, bearded iris ‘Immortality,’ and daffodil ‘Tete-a-Tete.’
Muscari armeniacum and Ipheion uniflorum ‘Wisley Blue’ have been up and full like this for over two months but still no sign of a bud. I know they are coming soon.
This unidentified hellebore came with us when we moved from Chapel Hill (the tag was lost). It is not quite open but should be soon.
My thanks to Helen at The Patient Gardener who is hosting this meme of providing a review of our gardens at the end of the month. Please visit her to see what is happening in her and others gardens at the end of February.
So many things to look forward to John. It’s exciting to see the emerging plants.

Spring isn’t far away when plants start pushing up their leaves, it won’t be long now John!

It looks like a lovely primrose yellow hellebore and it is nearly out. You must be longing for a bit of colour after such a hard winter.

I hope you are correct. This one didn’t bloom last year.

Good to see those first leaves and buds. I’ve only recently developed an appreciation for Hellebores.

Thanks, Jason. I’m going to try to pot up some of the seedlings that surround the hellebores now.
