My Arranger and I attended the annual Spring Home and Garden Show in Charlotte the last weekend in February. It was the ninth year for us, and we recognize a certain pattern…a pattern that organizers use each year. By now we know where to go to see the orchid lady and the herbs and new fangled garden tools and crafted pots. And we know where to taste the dipping sauces and watch cooking demonstrations. We also know where to avoid the hot tub salesman and the deck construction guys. I did want to stop by the kitchen knife booth, but my Arranger persuaded me that we needed to check out the succulents instead.
I will report on the many garden displays in future posts, but for now I would like to share one of my favorites. I have dabbled in bonsai over the years and look forward each year to see the displays offered by Charlotte area bonsai experts.
Phoenix Juniper Golden Hinoki Cypress
Japanese White Pine Japanese Black Pine
I well appreciate the art and skill…and patience…that goes into the creation and maintenance over the years of these beautiful specimens. Seeing them is truly an inspiration.
Your comment about avoiding the hot tub salesman at the flowershow made me chuckle. Once I saw mattress showcased at a flower show, and I thought, huh? Unless the sheets were made of bamboo or it was for lying down to rest between visiting plant displays, it was of no use and kind of odd. Cathy

Remember it was a HOME and garden show. There was a lot of floor space without garden stuff

Good point! They had two cars showcased at the Boston Flower Show this weekend, wished they were tractors tho, LOL!

The Bonsai are beautiful but I can’t help feeling that they would like to escape!

If you take one out of the pot and plant it. It will indeed escape.
Makes me ask myself what do I do with my few when it’s time

I like the bonsai–that would be a nice addition to more home and garden shows.

I find Bonsai strangely beautiful, but also a little unnatural. It would be interesting to have a go at it one day though. I hope you will show us your bonsai trees some time!

Thanks, Cathy. I did show my two trees in earlier posts in the fall. Perhaps I can repeat when they bud out in the spring.
