This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge theme is MOTION. I was able to capture a green anole (Anolis carolinensis) scuttling across a hosta leaf.
My garden is a home to a number of these creatures who are welcome assistants in my continuing battle with certain predaceous insects. Most anoles are greener than this one. We have several similar small lizards that are in residence here as well: the ground skink (Scinella lateralis) and the five-lined skink (Eumeces inexpectatus). They are harmless to plants and humans. Despite that pleasant situation, my wife still prefers that they remain outside.

Great catch. Those things can move like the wind.

Thanks, Janet. It was just by chance that I happened to be passing that spot at the right time.

Chance has a lot to do with many great photos, don’t you think? Not always, but more often than we might want to admit. 🙂

Now this is perfect. A visual example of motion though nothing is moving. This photo gets the blue ribbon in the #Photo Challenge this week. No doubt about it.

I could have just moved the camera a smidge. Thanks for your vote.

Nice capture. I saw an anole this past week too. It’s taken a while but I’ve finally become used to them.

Thank you, Susie. They are interesting little creatures, especially when they puff their red chests.
