The theme of this week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is Meshphotochallenge. MESH is new a new WordPress software support package described as a “new way to share photo galleries.” Trying a new piece of software is for me always challenging, exciting…and scary. Here is my very first attempt: I selected some of my favorite garden plants as a way of learning how to create a “mesh.” It will be interesting to see how this might be useful in future blogs.
(Select the left or right arrows to move through the “mesh.”)
I would appreciate any feedback on the presentation generated by this new software.

I was a little confused about the arrows. I couldn’t see them until I clicked on the picture and it was enlarged. I really like it because I could go through the pictures faster that way.

It will be interesting to see the feedback from many people using this for the first time.

You might give it a try in a draft post and not publish it until you are satisfied.

Great photos! The arrow buttons are a bit difficult to see. I wonder what effect Mesh has on load time. I’m a little reluctant to try it yet. Good for you for jumping in!

I think the first effort was focused on iPhone users. I used my computer, and there are certain things I will be giving them in feedback.

I think it is a good start, and I know they want to improve it.

For ease of use i found the Mesh app great, uploaded the images through my iPhone and used the link to WP. Your gallery looks good as the subjects are centered and the composition works. I wasn’t happy with my gallery in the way the shots were cropped and the poor resolution. Still for the on-the-go-lifestyle, the app does it’s job.

I think this is just the beginning of a new learning experience. I am looking forward to seeing what others are doing with this software.

I read your post first on my iPhone and the pictures loaded very quickly, today on the iPad more slowly for some reason. I liked the effect and will give it a try when I have some time to play, thanks for trying it and giving us a taste!

Thanks, Christina. It’s fun to try something new. I haven’t figured out just how this can benefit our blogs over what we already have in the gallery capability. Perhaps just for an iPhone advantage. We shall see.

All are lovely photos, John. I especially like your interpretation of the challenge this week. Now you’ve inspired me to take another look at it. It seemed too ponderous as presented on the Daily Post. Your final photo, and header, remain my favorite, although the lovely little Camelia is a close second. That photo of the Mahonia just absolutely intrigues me. I love the colors and forms. Best wishes, WG

The mahonia was growing in my grandmother’s woods and I transplanted it to my Chapel Hill garden. I don’t have it in this garden, but I do love that picture.
I will try the Mesh technique again.

Worked well, although I didn’t give Mesh a try this time for my post. Beautiful photos.

I had to read the comments to get going with this. The arrows didn’t work to advance the photos but the little dots at the bottom did. I will definitely look into this because the photos on my side bar are small and the advance buttons show on top of the photo, which isn’t good. Do you think this app would work on the sidebar too? LOVE the ability to advance the photos like this. I will look into it ASAP. Thanks.

I’m not sure about the side bar question. I have not used the mesh app since this post as I think the same capability already existed with the ability to create a gallery and choose slideshow. Play around with and see.
