I recently planted three new clumps of Phlox paniculata ‘David’ to replace some that had deteriorated over the summer. They have started to bloom and my Arranger and I thought they would make a pleasant offering for In a Vase on Monday and hold up well in the house this week.
Added to the phlox are a yellow anuual ‘Samantha’ lantana and variegated liriope. The small vase contains the same lantana and some purple barberry foliage. The cobalt blue vases are part of a small collection; we very much like these vases which have been seen frequently in this Monday series.
I am including some closeups of the arrangement using WordPress’s new MESH software to present the photographs in gallery format. (Please click on the left or right arrows to move through the gallery.) I’m still learning how to use the new capability and would certainly appreciate any feedback.
Please visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and others are gleaning from their gardens this week.
Lantata has a nice fragrance:)

Beautiful. The blue of the cases is one of my favorite colours for a vase.

Thank you, Christina. You have probably noticed that we use the cobalt blue vases quite frequently.

I’m envious of your white phlox. I’ve tried to grow ‘David’ so many times but it never takes hold for me. The barberry foliage is really a nice color and is quite delicate. The mesh slideshow is easy to view.

Thank you, Susie. I am trying again with ‘David.’ Will have to see if they make it this time…all new soil and I will give them attentive care.

That is such a beautiful phlox, John – my phlox (not this variety) are just beginning to bulk up but the heads are never as full of colour as these are. They are especially beautiful in your blue vases. Thank you to both for sharing today

Thanks a lot, Cathy. We are thoroughly enjoying your meme. I was a bit surprised that the newly planted phlox would bloom so well so quickly.

I grow ‘David’ too John but it is almost over now – it is lovely to see your fresh flowers. I like the gallery – a good way to include more detail without making the post overly long.

The vases are lovely, John. Your arranger comes through again. The miniature vase provides a wonderful echo of the larger vase.

‘David’ is one of my favorite Phlox varieties, though I don’t grow it in the garden anymore. Goes beautifully with the Lantana.

Your flowers look so fresh and lovely! Love your Lantana and how everything works together to well. I have been battling with WP to create slideshows tonight and repeatedly loosing photos. I must be overloading their system 😉 I’m glad ‘mesh’ is working for you. Best wishes, WG

Thanks, WG. I’m still playing around with MESH. Am not yet sure what it would add that the slideshow does. Will see.
