Today is Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day, a meme created by Carol at May Dreams Gardens. It is a time to share what is blooming in our garden. Please take A Walk in the Garden to see some of the flowers that are providing color on this particular day
I’ve not had a lot of luck on my first try with dahlias. I planted them all in pots and these two, as sparse as they are, have come forth here late in the season.
There are still lots of various garden phlox in bloom, a last fading hydrangea, ‘Purple Magic’ crape myrtle, and a pot of annuals to brighten things.
Other color is provided by Coreopsis ‘Creme Brulee’ (coming back after being ravaged by rabbits earlier in the spring), a Knockout rose, ‘Becky’ daisies, the old reliable sedum ‘Autumn Joy,’ and the annual vine Mandevilla.
An unusual Encore azalea is ‘Autumn Twist,’ just coming into bloom throughout the garden. These two blooms are on the same plant. It makes for a most interesting phenomenon to see a single plant putting out different blooms.
Several of the reblooming iris are about ready to open. I decided to show this photo of ‘Immortality’ now. Although not yet completely open, it most assuredly won’t be around when the next GBBD rolls around.
Please visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens to see what she has blooming in her garden this month and what others participating in this meme will be sharing with us today.
Gorgeous! What a beautiful selection of pinks you have this time of year! Our re-blooming Iris haven’t yet thrown up any stalks. I’m so glad you have I. ‘Immortality’ coming into bloom. That is one of our favorites. A beautiful post, John!

Thanks, WG. I am just starting to see bloom stalks on the iris, but none yet on the yellow one.

Thanks for reminding me to check if any of my iris are reflowering; I seem to remember that mine were much later than yours last year.

Reblooming Clarence iris sometimes gets in the mood for autumn, and sometimes does not at my garden. This year is one of those ‘not’ years. One time, it bloomed after the frost. No such luck with yours.

Thanks, Ray. Clarence has been temperamental in the past…some years blooms in fall and some not. This is apparently a good one.
