Another Monday has come around. We missed the eclipse of the moon last night, but for good reason. It’s been raining for three days and we have had over three inches of rain. It’s been the good kind of rain…light and steady…able to soak in. It was worth having my tennis match cancelled on Saturday. As we get into autumn, I see more things in the garden that need their fall trimming than I see flowers in bloom. Nonetheless, my Arranger recommended “a little of this and a little of that” to put in our Monday vase. I find it wise to follow her advice.
The color is provided by Encore azalea ‘Autumn Royalty’ and dahlias ‘Zirconia’ and ‘Kordessa.’ The pale blossoms of Hydrangea paniculata ‘Little Lime’ and foliage from Buxus sinica ‘Wintergreen’ and Pittisporum tobira ‘Mojo’ complete the arrangement.
The containers are from our “blue and white” collection.
Please visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and others are offering in their vases this week.
Oh, this is gorgeous. The flowers look somehow to be speaking, like they are on a stage or something like that – characters all.

John I love the vase and plant materials especially the dahlias….the garden here needs rain and lots of cleaning up….hopefully we can get to it soon.

Thanks. This is the first time in this garden that I have had any daffodils come into bloom, so I’m glad you liked them in the arrangement. Autumn help is coming.

Thank you, Cathy. I am fortunate to have an Arranger with such a good eye for color.

I like the use of the light greens to support the other flowers. That pink dahlia is lovely. Ironic that we should miss the eclipse because of rain, but I was grateful to see the rain too.

And it’s still raining today. I too am grateful for it. Thanks, Susie.

The little of this little of that has paid off, what a nice vase!
We traded the rain for an excellent view of the eclipse, today I’m thinking the rain would have been nice too. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll get our share.

Thanks. Our choices are a bit short these days, but I can’t complain about the rain.

Love the Dahlia Zirconia – that’s the dark one, right? I didn’t realize there were fall-blooming Azaleas.

Yes, Jason. It is the dark one. There is a whole series of Encore Azaleas that bloom in the fall. They are truly great plants. See http://wp.me/p4ip7v-gJ for a view of the ones in my garden.
