I am happy to report that we have survived the recent foul weather in the Carolinas. Many areas were hit with severe flooding and damaging winds, but my garden was spared all that. It’s just waterlogged. We came home after a weekend visit with eldest daughter to find a soaked carpet on the screened porch, debris under the crape myrtles (which must have been whipped about by the wind), and three and a half inches of water in my rain gauge.
Flowers are rather sparse in the garden just now as we move into fall, but I was delighted to find several ‘Clarence’ bearded iris in full bloom. How timely for a Vase on Monday.
The container is a Japanese Kenzan flower arranger.
Please visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and others are sharing in their vases this Monday.
Oooh! A Kenzan flower arranger is now on my holiday shopping list!
Irises are one of my favourite flowers. ‘Clarence’ seems wonderfully flamboyant, doing a sort of can-can with his skirts.

Thank you. I hope you can find one of those containers. They are quite useful…especially on a Monday.

Lovely iris. Glad you safely weathered the storm, but too bad about the carpet. Thought we were over it but rain picked up again this afternoon.

Thanks, Susie. The carpet will dry in a few days, so no harm. It certainly has been a long wet spell. Fortunately for us, we missed the really bad flooding.

What a lovely surprise to have those pretty iris bloom so well again. At least they liked all that rain!

Thanks, Cathy. I expect them to rebloom; some times they don’t but when they do, it is a marvelous sight.

Very pretty, and perfect in that “vase”! It looks like a professionally done arrangement that would cost an arm and a leg in a florist’s shop! Glad to hear you were spared the brunt of the storm.

Glad you didn’t suffer too much damage from the storm. I had no idea there were Irises that would bloom in October.

Thanks, Jason. There are a large number of reblooming iris on the market now, which rebloom in fall. I’ve had them in bloom as late as Dec 1, not prolific but in bloom and I’ll take that.
