In a Vase on Monday:

Today, of course, is Monday and time for a vase offering of what is flowering around our house. We had a good hard frost last night and most of the blossoms in the garden were damaged. My Arranger suggested that we present her favorite African violet as a stand in for those that are suffering outside.

Once again, my thanks go to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden, the host of this weekly display of flowers in a vase. Please visit her site and see what she and others are including in their vases this week.

Beautiful substitute, John! It’s a pity that African violets aren’t commonly offered for sale these days, they used to be quite popular. Now they are hard to find.

  5. This is a wonderful display of African violets, John, so elegant, and dare I say unusual, as I have never seen any displayed so gorgeously together in a trough like this. My own three are currently in individual pots and looking most unloved, ungainly and untidy, but you have really inspired me to make the effort to create a proper display of them — thank you!

I love this colour, whatever sort of blooms they are – so thanks for sharing these today, John.

I love African violets and must try growing one again. Frosty here too, but my flowers have all gone now anyway!
