John Viccellio retired after 24 years in the U. S. Navy and began to dig into gardening when he could finally land in one place. He completed the Master Gardener course in 1992 and has since designed and constructed two of his own gardens. He wrote a monthly garden column for ten years and was a regular contributor to Carolina Gardener magazine. John published his first book, Guess What's in My Garden!, in 2014.     One of my absolute favourite subjects: flowers! And this one was absolutely gorgeous and so very vibrant! Loved it 🙂

    Vibrant, for sure! I don’t grow many irises, this makes me wonder why.

      I had a dozen or so varieties in my Chapel Hill garden…planted right in the edge of a lake and they thrived obviously liking the wet feet. A friend had given me the lot. I don’t have that kind of place now.

    What a stunning Iris!! They are such tall, strong flowers with such character 🙂 I love them and have a few in my garden as well 🙂 Truth be known, I have a rule in my garden…if you stand up strong and tall on your own, you can stay, if you need a wire fence or string to hold you up you must not be allowed to stay hahah! 🙂 Thus I have many Irises, Tulips, and other such lovelies in my menagerie. Thank you for sharing your beauty 🙂
