I have accepted an invitation from HeyJude to participate in the Garden Photography Challenge for January. The theme of the month is “Winter Gardens.” How very appropriate!
Japanese maple ‘Ever Red’ covered last week with ice and snow in my current garden.
The dry stack stone terraces in my previous garden in Chapel Hill.
Snow and ice are rare in these parts…but on occasion they can add a note of beauty to the winter garden.

After last weekend’s snow, it’s hard to believe we are going to have a taste of spring today. I’m up for it, though!

I worked in the garden just enough to remember I have a back.

Thanks for sharing John. I hope to see more of your garden throughout the year. The maple looks as though it is a beauty – lovely shape.

I like that red Japanese maple. I shot one for my tree photography project. I’ll get around to posting it one of these days.
