Today is Monday and time for In a Vase on Monday, hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden. For this week’s offering I thought I might try something a bit different. My peonies continue to be delightful this year but are starting to slow down. While the flowers look droopy and are ready to fall on a number of them, it struck me that the color still remains in the petals, falling or not. So…I got a plate and filled it with peony petals.
It’s not really a vase, and they aren’t really full flowers, but I must admit I love the color.
Please visit Cathy and see what she and others are sharing from their gardens this week.
A nice shift from tradition… and those colours are wonderful!

Thank you, Joanna. It seemed like a good way to take advantage of the petals…before they brown out.

Lovely and imaginative – just what I’ve come to expect from you and the Arranger! (Did you then eat them?)

Thanks. Sorry but we did NOT have a peony salad.

A lovely idea, preferable to letting them wither unloved on the branch.

I’m glad you like the idea. Thanks.

That is such an intriguingly alternative idea, John – well done to you and the Arranger

Thanks, Cathy. The dropping petals just begged for a different solution.

That’s a very good idea John, which I may also try as it inevitably rains when my peonies open! I wonder if this dish of petals also smells good?

Thank you, Cathy. There was a fragrance but not very intense. The petals don’t last very long…not a surprise.
