Weekly Photo Challenge: Curve

The theme of this Week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is CURVE.

This is the ‘Firebird,’ created by French-American artist Niki de Sainte Phalle (1930-2002) in 1991. It stands in front of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Firebird

The surface of the “Firebird’ is composed of mirrors, each of which reflects passing pedestrians and automobiles, changing weather, and nearby lights. Thus is created an ever changing appearance of the statue.

Nikki created a garden full of her sculpture close to where we live. All based on the Tarot cards, your sculpture is almost identical to her interpretation of the sun.

Love those Niki sculptures. Great photo, too. Balboa Park in SD has the Nikisaurus–great for kids to climb on.

Hi John, Nice image here. I thought I recognized the artist’s style. There was an exhibition of her work in Atlanta not too long ago at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. See my album at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/stgrundy/albums/72157613053996271
