My enduring pink phlox and ‘Endless Summer’ hydrangeas are coming back with a second flush of blooms. It seems right to end August with these stalwarts for In a Vase on Monday.

The supporting cast includes sprigs of variegated liriope and the annual white vinca.
Let me suggest that you visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and other followers of her meme are offering this week for us to see.

Fresh and lovely. Some vinca volunteers in my garden and brightens up places where other plants are dying back.

Thank you, Susie. I’ve been surprised that the annual vinca (mine all in pots) have done so well this summer, despite the heat. I’ll probably plant more next year.

It has been a good year for hydrangeas here too.

Thanks, Eliza. I also have Blushing Bride and Twist and Shout in the Endless Summer series, but they haven’t done as well.

Beautiful ! Is that a cobalt blue vase ? The ‘arranger’ has done it again 😊

Yes, it is cobalt blue. We use it a lot because its color goes so well with the pastels in my garden.

Look at that vinca in there! I would never had thought to add it to a vase and it looks great. Some years it’s happy here, others it just sulks. It does like a hot summer.
