We are happy to share another vase with flowers from our garden for this week’s In A Vase on Monday.

My Arranger suggested that we call this arrangement “a posy.” What could be better? The arrangement consists of Encore azaleas, white pentas, and Society garlic.
Let me invite you to visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see what she and others following this meme will be sharing from their gardens this week.

He lives in Stallings, NC with his wife, in close proximity to six of his eight grandchildren.
The Azalea is a wonderful pink, nicely emphasised by the other additions.

Society garlic? What is that? I guess it might be an allium of sorts without a garlic smell… Pretty azalea too. Thanks for sharing

Tulbaghia violacea. I just planted it last year. It is called Society in that it is reputed to be able to be consumed without leaving bad breath. I haven’t tried that. It does smell when you handle it. The good part: I like the color/shape of the blossoms, and they keep coming up all summer. I think we are right on the edge of its hardiness zone, but mine came back and multiplied.

I love Society Garlic. There’s an enormous patch in the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens and I’ve long admired it, and happy to find that it’s the first plant on my plant ID list for a horticultural course I’m taking at the Botanics. I won’t forget that one in a hurry!

That’s an intersting snippet of info, Joanna – both on the plant and on your impending course!

It’s a year-long practical horticultural course which I am enjoying very much so far.
