New flowers are showing themselves in my garden this Monday. It seems only appropriate then to share them In a Vase on Monday, the wonderful idea hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.
This week marked the opening of Tete-a-tete daffodils and Veronica peducularis ‘Georgia Blue,’ and these small, delicate flowers are paired in a small vase. They are backed by boxwood and arborvitae greenery.
The ‘Georgia Blue’ veronica is a creeping variety which spreads nicely (and politely), and it blooms early with this lovely pale lavender color. It makes a very nice evergreen ground cover at the edge of a border.

Do you also grow ‘Waterperry’ creeping veronica? I don’t find it readily in local garden centers but I like it. It has a lighter color, otherwise they look the same in the garden.

Lovely to be enjoying Narcissus arleady; I just noticed the first shoots of some of mine coming through but it will be a while before they flower.

Your tete a tete flower earlier than mine do John, not surprisingly. They look so uplifting with the veronica – I need to investigate it.

Thanks, Julie. You may also want to look into creeping veronica ‘Waterperry.’ Looks/acts the same but has a lighter color blossom…only several weeks later.

Thank you for introducing me to a new plant; blue is my favourite colour in the garden and there isn’t much of it around in winter and early spring. I suspect this would more likely bloom in March here in the UK if it’s flowering at the same time as Narcissus, but I do think I will have to get some.

I “discovered” the veronica when we moved to North Carolina some twenty years ago. I have been growing it ever since and it continues to brighten the approaching spring.
