In a Vase on Monday: A Pink Impression

Our weather has been a bit crazy this week. Warm tennis weather was followed by cold and…snow! Within hours the snow melted, but enough damage was done to some of my plants that I’m glad I heeded the snow forecast and picked a few flowers Saturday to put in our vase for this Monday. I hope that isn’t cheating.

The star of this Monday’s show are the Darwin tulips ‘Pink Impression.’ The supporting cast consists of Muscari armeniacum and Iberis sempervirens candytuft on the stage of my Arranger’s favorite Kenzan vase.

Just a hint of why heeding the weather forecast was wise:

I’m glad I got the tulips out of their pots before the storm. Please visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to share the beautiful arrangements that she and so many others are showing today.

  1. I missed the sprinkle of snow in the Upstate and am glad to have just escaped the impending storm in DC. Glad to be home, but not happy about the bitter freeze that is on the way. Your “spring in a vase” is very cheering, though.

This is a graceful arrangement. The tulips are a lovely color. You appear to have had more snow than we did. Ours too disappeared quickly, but the cold lingers this week.

That’s a lot of snow, John – I don’t think it’s cheating at all to pick the flowers to save them from the weather. Pink Impression looks remarkably similar to Design Impression. A very elegant way to display the tulups.

Lovely as usual. I hope the storm isn’t too brutal.

I am also glad you picked some flowers a few days early – these late cold spells can spoil buds, so best to cut them and enjoy them while we can! Beautifully arranged, as usual. 🙂

Hope the snow doesn’t last long John – and that no more plants are damaged. Your rescued blooms look wonderful together, very tastefully arranged as always. Thanks to both of you
