In a Vase on Monday: Returning

I have been away from In a Vase on Monday for far too long in the midst of fun vacation travels and dealing with some health issues. I am glad to be back, just in time to put on  funny glasses to view an eclipse. I do hope you won’t have to put on funny glasses to view our offering this week.

The pink phlox is a chance seedling that has grown nicely over the years, unlike any color of our other phloxes. Serendipity in the garden is always wonderful. It is augmented by several blooms of ‘Little Lime’ hydrangea, euphorbia ‘Stardust,’ and Pieris ‘Red Mill.’

I added the dwarf gardenia to the photo before moving it to my Arranger’s bed side table, where I know she will enjoy the fragrance.

    Glad to hear you’re enjoying the summer but I hope for a speedy recovery so you can do the same this autumn.
    I lost the gardenia I had been nursing all winter indoors. It looked so promising but then had enough with all our rain and my poor choice in potting soil. I wish I could smell it, maybe next time!

      I spent several months with a gardenia cutting (gift from a friend) in my bathroom. It put out great roots and I planted it last fall. Was doing great until a late frost made it all brown. But I left it, and new growth came up and its doing well now. I’ll use a bit of protection next winter. Thanks.

    Your absence was noted, John, and I am sorry to hear you have had health issues but hope that you are back to full strength now. I have takens cuttting from phlox but had never considered they might self seed although perhaps they wouldn’t in the UK. Yours makes a lovely accent with the soft greens
