In a Vase on Monday: This and That

All eyes in this part of North Carolina are on hurricane Irma. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people in the Caribbean and Florida who have suffered so much. Irma is moving away from our area, but we are experiencing a little rain and a bit of wind, but nothing like the areas to our south.

In anticipation of this weather, I made A Walk in the Garden on Sunday, securing items in the garden against possible damage, and looking for a few September flowers to share this Monday in our weekly vase. As you can see, I found a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

I found a few Little Lime hydrangeas, annual vinca, Samantha lantana, a few miniature zinnias, and some Encore azaleas in bloom. I trust you will visit Cathy at  Rambling in the Garden to see what she is sharing from her garden this week and to check out the vases of many of her followers.

Love the colour of those zinnias – and is the stripy leaf from the lantana?

This is beautiful, John. I admired the variegated foliage and at first thought it was a coleus, but looking up ‘Samantha’ found it there – I love it! It looks superb against the hot pink.

That lantana makes a lovely impact among the pink – I love yellow and pink together, and the foliage is very striking too. 🙂

Is that variegated foliage from the lantana? Love it. Hope Irma didn’t cause much distress. We had only a small amount of rain.

Yes, the variegated foliage is the lantana. We had almost no problems from Irma. A bit of leaf debris around and lots of water, but nothing today. Now I must hang all the plants, bird feeders, chimes, etc. that we took down in anticipation.

Very pretty. I hope you made it out of the storm unscathed. What are the larger pink blossoms ?

Thank you, Dawn. The larger pink blossoms are from one of my Encore azaleas. I’ve lost the tag so I can’t say which one it is (a have about a dozen)
