In a Vase on Monday: Remontant

Remontant: [ri-mon-tuhnt] adjective,  blooming more than once in a season.

I have been growing reblooming (i.e., remontant) perennials for over twenty-five years. First were daylilies, and then came roses, hydrangeas, azaleas, viburnum, and bearded iris. This week’s Vase on Monday features three remontant bearded iris from my garden: ‘Clarence’ (lavender). ‘Immortality’ (white). and ‘Sunny Disposition’ (pale yellow).
They don’t bloom so prolifically the second time around, but it brings great joy to see them blooming in October.

    Great to see your re-flowering Iris John. I have immortality but it has only re-flowered once in all the time I’ve had it.

    It’s nice to see flowers other than mums this time of year. I like simple arrangements sometimes, too. I make lovely simple arrangements with lilies.

    Beautiful and perfect for the house!
    They seem out of place blooming in the fall here. With the falling leaves and frosted annuals I just feel bad for them trying so hard.

    Very pretty, and such pale and subtle colours – do they look a little out of place in your autum garden. John? As you say, we can be grateful for all our blooms at this time of year
