In a Vase on Monday: Saved

The weather forecast for this morning suggested our first frost! I wasn’t happy about that, but I should not have been surprised; it’s the end of October already. So, when I heard the forecast, I ran out and clipped few blossoms for this week’s In a Vase on Monday a day early. I hope that’s not breaking the rules, but it seemed an honorable way to save a few blooms to share. These will certainly be familiar, but a vase needs what a vase can get.

Bearded iris ‘Sunny Disposition’ stands in the middle of hydrangea ‘Endless Summer.’

By the by, it didn’t reach freezing temps this morning;

Please visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden to see her vase and all the others around the gardening world who join her each week.

      Thanks, Marian. So far, my little ecosystem has avoided frost. I expect to be in your area for Thanksgiving. Don’t know what my daughter has planned for me (there’s always a Daddy-daughter project), but perhaps I can contact you for a quickie visit.

    These were worth saving, what wonderful colours. We did get a ground frost but as I didn’t home ’til it was dark I’ve yet to see if there was any damage.

    Frost here too John, but just a warning really as there have been no obvious ill effects. Your iris and hydrangea are perfect so thank you for ensuring they were safe and sharing them with us

    The wonder of seeing an iris in October, John. And with the lovely blues as well. Thank you! I think we just had a frost for the second night running here (still a little dark to see). So lots of saving of dahlias etc. to do today!
