In a Vase on Monday:

Warmer weather has brought a touch of early spring to my garden as a number of plants are beginning to put on their colorful best. It is a delight to be able to join Cathy at Rambling in the Garden, the originator of In a Vase on Monday, with few offerings from some of the early bloomers.

The vase on the left features camellias, backed by loropetalum. The one of the right contains candytuft, muscari, and ipheion. The accent is a Japanese sake cup.

Please visit Cathy to see her vase this week and that of so many others who have joined in this meme.

Beautiful arrangements that warm the winter-weary soul. (If the flowers don’t do it, some sake certainly will!)

Much as I like the roses and lorpetalum , it is the second vase that appeals to me more – the contrast of the muscari with the canytuft is most pleasing. Candytuft was everywhere in the 60s and 70s but I haven’t seen it in years (not that I’m suggesting you are old fashioned, John, it was just a thought!)

  8. For a moment I thought you had roses blooming in your garden. The Camellias are lovely, and go really well with the Loropetalum.
