We are staying close to quarters here in our retirement community, but I do try to take a walk around the grounds each day, properly distancing, of course. A little exercise surely helps get through another day of stay-at-home.
In an area yet to be developed on our property, I walked into a field covered with cheerful bright yellow buttercups.
As I investigated more closely, I came upon several small, lovely, and colorful surprises.
I think the red flowers are poppies whose seeds escaped from a nearby garden, but who cares? They were a delightful exclamation point in the field of yellow and for certain brightened my day.
I spy CA poppies, photo 2. All beautiful!

Not sure how CA poppies got to NC, but I’ll take ’em. Thanks.

wonder if someone threw out a wildflower mix on that property. Lovely finds. Take care.

Thanks, Susie. These finds were isolated, so the puzzle of their origin remains.

Lovely finds/fields indeed! Sometimes I get black-hearted Papaver rhoes in the garden and I always try to spread the seed – perhaps that’s what you photographed?. I am enjoying the ‘wildlings’ more and more. Thanks for sharing your walk – and lucky you to have all that beauty next to you!

Thanks, Cathy. I too love “finding” stuff as I move about this world. For awhile, at least, that world is rather restricted. This too shall pass!

Indeed it will – and it does look as if you and the ‘Arranger’ have landed yourselves in a lovely place, with plenty to explore in the future.

What a nice surprise, and so bright! For as nice as gardens can be, I’m always thrilled by a patch of unexpected wildflowers. Glad you have quite a few good spots to explore in the immediate area, and it sounds like you’re having a decent spring so far. Take care!
