A Photo a Week Challenge: UNEXPECTED

This week’s photo challenge from Nancy Merrill Photography is UNEXPECTED.

You can imagine that when I was up a ladder trimming the top of a ‘Sky Pencil’ holly, I most certainly did not expect a visitor to come out of the shrub right next to my feet.

Fortunately, this five foot black snake prefers other critters in my garden, not the human kind. Its appearance next to my feet was totally unexpected. I carefully crawled down the ladder and gave it plenty of room to go on its way.
