Cold and Gray

cold and gray day

it feels like snow

not cold enough

just rain for now

the leaves all down

wind sent flying

across the lawn

able to see

the squirrel nests

in trees high up

small chickadee

golden goldfinch

cardinal red

at the feeder

cold does not faze

just take a turn

too much for me

on such a day

a welcome hearth

a friendly smile

keeps me inside

John Viccellio retired after 24 years in the U. S. Navy and began to dig into gardening when he could finally land in one place.     56 is very impressive. We are pikers at 30 years this coming June.
